She was appointed as an Associate Professor and Research Fellow at King Saud University, Saudi Arabia. She is a member of the Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society. Rachid YAZAMI

Yazami is a 1978 graduate of the Grenoble Institute of Technology, (INPG) where he also received a Ph. D. degree in 1985

Battery research

Yazami's research project included a study of graphite intercalation compounds for lithium battery applications. In 1985 he joined the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) as Research Associate. He was later promoted to Research Director (Professor) position in 1998.[4] In 1980 Yazami was the first scientist to establish the reversible intercalation of lithium into graphite in an electrochemical cell using a polymer electrolyte. Eventually, his discovery led to the lithium-graphite anode now used in commercial lithium ion batteries, an over US$80B value market. Yazami also worked on other forms of graphite materials for cathode application in lithium batteries, including graphite oxide and graphite fluoride. In 2007 he founded a start-up company in California to develop and commercialize his patented discoveries particularly on fluoride ion batteries (FIBs). While holding a Research Director position with the CNRS in France, Yazami has served as a Visiting Associate at the California Institute of Technology between 2000 and 2010 where he conducted cooperative research on electrode materials including nanostructured materials such as carbon nanotubes, nano-silicon and nano-germanium anodes. His research on cathode materials included thermodynamics studies of phase transitions in lithiated transition metal oxides and phosphates. He also developed a new electrochemical technique based on thermodynamics measurements (ETM), which applies to assess a battery state of charge, state of health and state of safety. Entropymetry applications include battery life extension owing to adaptive (smart) battery charging protocols and battery safety enhancement. In 2010 Yazami was appointed a Nanyang Visiting Professor then he was promoted in 2012 the Cheng Tsang Man Chair Professor in Energy at the School of Materials Science and Engineering of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. He currently serves as the Director of Battery Programs at the Energy Research Institute (ERIAN) and as a Co-Principal Investigator in TUM Create Center of Electromobility [1] lab. in Singapore. Yazami co-authored over 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals, in proceedings of international meetings and as book chapters. He is the inventor involved in close to 150 patents according to the WIPO site.

Awards and recognition

Yazami is the co-author involved in over 200 published papers and the co-inventor of over 140 patents related to lithium primary and rechargeable batteries and on new battery chemistry based on fluoride ion. Yazami is the recipient of several research awards, including with NATO, NASA, IBA and the Hawaii Battery Conference. He is the main Founder of CFX Battery, Inc. a Caltech-CNRS start up company in Azusa, California and of KVI PTE LTD in Singapore. Yazami is the winner of 2012 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers IEEE Medal for Environmental and Safety Technologies. In 2014, Rachid Yazami, John Goodenough, Yoshio Nishi and Akira Yoshino were awarded the Draper Prize by The National Academy of Engineering for pioneering and leading the groundwork for today’s lithium ion battery. Yazami received the Royal Medal (Wissam Malaki) of Intellectual Competency from HM the King of Morocco Mohamed VI, during the Throne Day on July 30, 2014. In March 2016, Rachid Yazami received an award as a finalist of the Marius Lavet Prize of Inventing-Engineers, Paris, France. On July 14, 2016 Yazami was awarded the title of Chevalier de la Legion of honour of France. In March 2017 he received the Honors Award of the Moroccans of the World. In September 2014 Prof. Rachid Yazami was appointed by HM the King of Morocco a Corresponding Member of the Hassan II Academy of Sciences and Technologies of Morocco. In November 2018, Yazami was the recipient of the Takreem Award for Science and Technological Achievement considered as the Arab Scientist of the year.

Education

Prof. Adam Waldemar Skorek, M'87, SM'90, F'09 completed Master of Electrical Engineering Program at Bialystok University of Technology (Poland) receiving both Master and Engineer degrees in 1980. He received a Doctor of Technical Sciences Degree in Electrical Engineering at Warsaw University of Technology (Poland) in 1983. On 1987, he joined the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières (UQTR), where currently, he is a Full Professor and Director of the Research Group on Industrial Electronics.

Carreer

He founded the UQTR4s Electro-Thermal Management Laboratory which succeeded both the NanoHeat Laboratory and the UQTR4s Industrial ElectroHeat Laboratory founded and directed by himself since 1989. He is conducting the electrical engineering courses for bachelors, masters and Ph.D. students. His research works was granted by NSERC, CFI, FRQNT, MITACS and industry. He published and co-published over 130 papers including works on High Performance Computing applications in electro-thermal analysis. He is currently representative of the UQTR at the Canadian Microelectronics Corporation. Volunteering more than 30 years in IEEE, he contributed on various positions including the IEEE Fellow Committee Member and the IEEE MGA Awards and Recognition Committee Chair.

MOHAMED HIMDI received the Ph.D. degree in signal processing and telecommunications from the University of Rennes 1, France in 1990. Since 2003, he has been a Professor with the University of Rennes 1, and the Head of the High Frequency and Antenna Department until 2013, of IETR.

Research

He has authored or co-authored 131 journal papers and over 270 papers in conference proceedings. He has also co-authored 10 book chapters. He holds 39 patents. His research activities concern passive and active millimeter-wave antennas. His research also includes development of new architectures of antenna arrays, and new three-dimensional (3-D) antenna technologies. He was Laureate of the 2d National Competition for the Creation of Enterprises in Innovative Technologies in 2000 (Ministry of Industry and Education). In March 2015 he received the JEC-AWARD at Paris on Pure composite material antenna embedded into a motorhome roof for the Digital Terrestrial Television reception. Finalist in category "Information Technologies & Security" of international Competition innovative start-ups Hello Tomorrow Challenge 2015 (24-26 June 2015 Paris).

Ahmed BOUTEJDAR

Dr. Eng. Ahmed Boutejdar was born in Souk El-Arbaa du Gharb, Morocco.

He received the Bachelor of Science B.Sc in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Physics from both universities Technische Hochschule öthen and from Ibn Tofeil University, Kénitra, Morocco between 1991 and 1995. From 1992 to 1993 Preparatory Year of german language and Preparatory Year of Engineering high School in köthen, Germany. B.Sc. and Diplom-Eng degrees (with highest honors) in Electrical Engineering, Communication, and Microwave Engineering from Otto-von-Guericke university, Magdeburg, Germany in 2002 and 2004 respectively, and the Ph.D. degree, Thesis title: Design, development and optimization of compact microstrip RF filters using "Defected Ground Structure" (DGS) technology (with highest honors) in electrical engineering from the Otto-von-Guericke university, Magdeburg, Germany in 2010.

Research

He worked until 2009 on research project entitled "Design, Analysis, and manufacturing of Microstrip Monopole DMS-Antennas and Compact Planar DGS-Filters ", founded by Land Sachsen-Anhalt at the University Magdeburg. From 2010 worked as a research on the project entitled "Design, optimization, CMOS-compatible fabrication and characterization of MEMS tunable planar and coplanar DGS filters". He is currently working in cooperation with the German Research Foundation (DFG) on a new research DFG-project entitled "Capacitive and resistive microelectromechanical switch with bridge structures made of spring steel, in particular for HF applications". His research interests include microwave and filter measurements, design and fabrication of UWB patch antennas, minimisation of compact Defected Ground Structure DGS-filters and antennas using MEMS-technology, design and optimisation of microstrip couplers, Defected Microstrip Structure DMS- compact antennas, reconfigurable planar filters and monopole antennas using varactor devices, measurement techniques and calibration of RF components, electromagnetic modeling (EM) and simulation and RF-circuit simulations.
